Trekking 8 days/7 nights: Yagour Plateau treks
Trekking in Morocco: Near Marrakech, the Yagour plateau, a huge high altitude plateau backed by Mount Toubkal. The Yagour is a place of mountain pasture for the nomads of the High Atlas in summer, and a major site in Morocco for its rock engravings.
Here is a superb High Atlas trek, on a little frequented region of Toubkal, to discover the most beautiful rock engravings of the High Atlas. This original hike in the High Atlas will take you through wild landscapes of great diversity: High valleys, passes, high plateaus, gorges, earthen villages clinging to the mountainside, rivers and waterfalls.
The Tizi N’Tichka pass will be our access route to the highlands of the Yagour and its rock carvings. We will end the crossing of the Yagour plateau by the beautiful and wild Zat valley unknown to travelers, except for a few rare hikers. Along the Zat wadi which winds through this magnificent valley, paths lost in lush greenery await you. The Zat valley has superb earthen villages where its inhabitants are very attached to their traditions and their Amazigh culture.
At the end of the hike, the potters’ village of Talataste deserves a stopover, before finding our vehicle in the village of Tighdouine to return to Marrakech. The village has natural springs, including a sparkling one very famous for its healing properties.

8-Day Trekiing Yagour plateau Itinerary:
Welcome in the Marrakech airport, meet our staff and get ready for the short meeting about the tour, the guide will expalian and gives some info about the locals life and local trails, to be ready for the next hike trails!
Hotel night.
Transfer by minibus to the Zat valley to reach the village of potters by Talataste. Lunch under the drowned gorges and continuation through the Zat valley to the village of Azgour. Night in bivouac or homestay.
After breakfast in the early morning we will start our hike toward the biggest plateau in Morocco were the locals take their own sheeps and goats in the summer time, in the culture of the local peopel they usaly spend the summer following the green grass to feed the animals.
Night in the camp
Walk on the Yagour plateau at 2200m visit the rock engravings, pass near sheepfolds, shepherds and herds in the mountain pastures, bivouac Descent into the Ourika valley. Beautiful views of the valley and the village of Ourika. Night bivouac.
A climb in the Ourika valley, crossing villages, along crops terraces and irrigation canals to Iabassenne. Night at the lodge.
Climb to the Tizi Tachddirt pass (2900m). Splendid view of the peaks of Iguenouane, Lkemt, Oukiamden and Anngour. Descent to the village of Tacheddirt, overnight at the bivouac or gite.
An hour and a half of descent in the Imnane valley crossing the villages of: Ouanskera, Tamguiste, Tinghourine, climb to the tamatert pass (2280m), from where the view on the valley of Imlil and the summit of Toubkal is impregnable. Transfer to Marrakech. Night at the hotel.

Berber Villages
Take a walk up Toubkal or Mgoun; Moroccan hikers who enjoy vast open spaces find the High Atlas to be a favored region for hiking. Mountain hikes of all skill levels are available, from the skilled trekker to the simple walker in love with nature, in the high valleys of Toubkal and its perched settlements or the highlands of M’goun to meet the transhumant Berbers.
Some people view the High Atlas trip between Toubkal and Mgoun as their opportunity to transcend themselves and complete the Great Crossing of the Atlas or to ascend Toubkal and reach M’goun’s summit.
Others may enjoy walking through the serene Zat valley, exploring the Berber settlements of the Toubkal mountain, or exploring Yagour’s nomadic territories in the High Atlas with their rock engravings.
It also involves hiking in the lovely Rose Valley or trekking through the high valleys of Mgoun to explore the canyons of M’goun and Tassaout. The M’goun massif was given the UNESCO “Global Geopark” designation in 2014. The Kasbahs of the Atlas trip between Telouet and Ait Benhaddou is a fantastic substitute for a journey over the Moroccan desert in the winter and spring.
