Starting from the village of Imlil, about 1.5 hours from Marrakech, this guided trek takes you through scenic Berber valleys, traditional villages, and the breathtaking landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains. On the first day, you’ll hike up to the Toubkal Refuge (3,207m), where you’ll rest and prepare for an early morning summit attempt.
The second day begins before sunrise with a rewarding climb to the peak, offering panoramic views across the Atlas range and, on clear days, even the Sahara Desert. After reaching the summit, you’ll descend back to Imlil the same day. This trek is suitable for fit and motivated hikers and is available year-round in winter, you’ll need to be prepared for snow and ice with appropriate gear like crampons and an ice axe, while spring through autumn offers milder conditions and clear trails.
The trek includes a licensed mountain guide, mule support, meals, and accommodation at the refuge. Whether you’re visiting for a few days or planning a longer stay, this 2-day adventure offers a challenging but accessible way to experience one of Morocco’s most iconic peaks.
Your adventure starts in the vibrant city of Marrakech, Morocco. From there, you’ll travel to the charming village of Imlil, located at 1,740 meters (5,710 feet) above sea level. Imlil is the starting point for your journey to Mount Toubkal. Our experienced local guide will be with you throughout the expedition. As you leave Imlil, you’ll be amazed by the stunning landscapes, traditional Berber villages, terraced fields, and fragrant juniper forests. You’ll also experience the warm hospitality of the Berber people.
On the first day, you’ll hike to the Toubkal Refuge, at 3,207 meters (10,522 feet). Here, you’ll enjoy a nourishing meal and rest well, preparing for the exciting ascent ahead.
Get up early in the morning and have a delicious breakfast to start your day. Prepare yourself for the final climb ahead. Our guide will lead you to the peak of Mount Toubkal. During the hike, you will come across rocky paths and maybe even spot some snow or ice. Make sure to maintain a steady pace and take in the breathtaking views.
